Change Tactic for Nonprofits: Embracing the Next Generation's Ideals

Much has been written about the differences between Baby Boomers, Gen Xers, and Millennials—mostly about the younger generations’ strong ties to smartphones and virtual communication.   These younger donors also differ in that they want to disrupt the traditional world of charitable giving, and they want to do so now, not after they retire. 
But a recent article in MiBiz suggests that the younger generations still crave face-to-face interaction. 
“Even with the increasing use of technology to solicit donations…online giving represents only 4 percent of total giving.”  
Professionals and donors are still working on a person-to-person level. “At the end of the day, if someone is going to write a check for $10,000, they want that personal attention.”
